This significant biotech campus located on 11 acres, is endowed with a view to the ocean. The project’s schematic design included a team wide three-day charrette that was held at the client’s existing headquarters. The site design was then further developed to a formal site development plan and included sensory experience nodes and community meeting areas meant to draw researchers out of their labs and to be a place for enjoyment, engagement, and exercise. Amenities features two grand courtyards, a central water feature, a sports court, and a pathway system of bridges and trails that connects stormwater management features. The campus setting draws upon a native oak woodland, wildflower meadows, and coastal sage scrub as place to contemplate research problems and commune with the healing properties of nature.
